Scribes
Very few Egyptians were scribes, people who could read and write in hieroglyphs; a difficult job. According to "Discovering our Past: A History of the World," scribes were men wrote on papyrus or stone walls and monuments. It also states that scribes had to go though special schooling to read and write in hieroglyphs and scribes made records plus were the first to write a medical book. They were in the middle of the social triangle, above farmers, but below priests.

Egyptian Society was organized based of the ancient Egyptian social classes. According to Discovering Our Past: A History of the World, the highest class was the pharaoh. After that came the priests and nobles in the upper class. The upper class lived in beautiful homes and dressed them selves nicely. Then, the artists and scribes were part of the middle class who dressed more simply than those of the upper class. Last were the farmers and unskilled workers, all part of the lowest and largest class.

Who would I Be?
I went to Egypt and became a farmer; you probably want to know why. I thought a farmer was the best choice because I don't like to be well known and people watching my every move like you would if you were pharaoh. I wouldn't be a priest because I don't believe in ancient Egyptian religion and I wouldn't want so much responsibility. I would have became a scribe because I like writing, however, I am not male. Also, I wouldn't want to be a slave because of the harsh way I could be treated. A downfall though of being a farmer was that I was not as well respected as I would have hoped. I did enjoy being able to make my own food as a farmer.
